Aquaponics and Compassion for the Poor (ACP)

Below are the plants I intend to try growing with the poor in Makoko - these plants are edible and can be sold for food.  They will also help to clean the waters of Lagos Lagoon which has high levels of ammonia based chemicals in the lagoon.  The aquaponic systems will pull water from the lagoon into the plant troughs which will also help make the mud looking waters look cleaner and hopefully smell better.   One of my first goals on arrival will be to survey the local plants along the banks of the Lagos lagoon to evaluate which plants can be grown for profit within the aquaponic system. We will start with aquaponics because it's easy to begin with growing plants from the rich lagoon waters with a simple pump and troughs mounted on the outer walls of the houses.  The illustration above is a complete aquaculture system (includes fish production) which will be an upgrade from the starting system that just uses brackish lagoon water.  So imagine the system abov...

 Earl (seen here), Joey and I have set up an aquaculture system at The Save Farm.  The Save Farm is a place for Veterans to engage in agriculture.  We transferred the system from another non-profit to this new location because it was a better fit in many ways.  It is about 80% complete and we believe contains therapeutic value - it's at least relaxing to work with.   Love in Christ Jack Kyle jkyle777@gmail.com

I  am heading to Makoko Nigeria to: set up aquaculture systems among the poor to show the Jesus movie to the poor to help at a school for orphans to build a house with donations from my friends and help house this family (Hunsa and Sesi and two babies) who are now squatting.  The idea is to help them get on their feet.  I will live in the house with them while I build the first aquaculture system at this house.  Hunsa will be my helper.
