Making a Chair

Image
Farouke (in white shirt) is standing around idle most of the time.  Sometimes he runs errands for people.  There have been a number of times Farouke has grabbed my hand as cars speed by me in the market and one time I got in the water to swim across the way and I heard him immediately jump in to swim next to me - he watches out for me a lot.   So I taught him to make a simple chair with the tools that we bought.   I told him that when I leave he can have the tools if he continues to build things as a business.  But whenever missionaries come to visit, he must let them use his tools on projects.   Hopefully, and pray for this, that we can get even better at chair and table making.   Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) If you would like to give financially with a card – go to the following page and find the heading called: ·         Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) ----------------- If you would like to write a check , write the check to: ·       Cross Connection

Ram Pump

Image
Solomon and I are going to try to build a Ram  Pump which CAN (unlike the other thing we were building) pump water without electricity.  If we can get it built, and there is no reason why we can't, then the people can pump nutrient rich waters for plants into their grow beds for free.  This can be done 9 months a year.  The other three they can't grow from the lagoon water because the lagoon turns salty.  But they can build water tanks to hold fresh water for the plants and fish.  It's pretty cool that we have designed a theoretical systems for growing plants and fish year around in the Lagoon.  Not just a few plants either - the sky is the limit (literally) for plants.  The question is, weather I can get it all done and not run out of money before my time is up.  I leave Nov. 17 for the states - as planned.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9td5x9tAOUo If any of you have ever built a ram  pump - you might email me and let me know how it went.   Aquaculture and Compassion

Upper Tank

I feel a little bit embarrassed.   I mentioned an electricity free pump in one of my last posts.  Actually, I got over excited about an ingenious primer method for syphons on youtube.  And so, I confused it for a new type of syphon.  It wasn't.   But it still makes for a great watering tank above the plants.  What it will end up being in the long run is a shower tank for the missionary house.  Yes, a shower in the missionary house!    MAKOKO AND CHRIST'S MISSIONS TO THE POOR If you would like to give financially  with a card  – go to the following page and find the heading called: ·        Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) If you would like to give financially with a card – go to the following page and find the heading called: ·         Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) ----------------- If you would like to write a check , write the check to: ·       Cross Connections of KC ·       PO Box 901945, Kansas City MO 64190 ·       This is the non profit tha

Doctor Steve

Dr Steve (pictured left - next to my helper Solomon) gave me a house call for about 10 dollars.  What I didn't know is that he would check on me twice a day every day to make sure I was taking my medicines.  I feel much much better since he gave me some pills to take!  By the way, all my medications cost about $15.  Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) If you would like to give financially with a card – go to the following page and find the heading called: ·         Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) ----------------- If you would like to write a check , write the check to: ·       Cross Connections of KC ·       PO Box 901945, Kansas City MO 64190 ·       This is the non profit that takes care of my accounting and gifts - Cross Connections is a NonProfit with the EIN 45-4548192 for your records. Fish and Fish Tank Are IN!

Image
We got the first fish and a fish tank to add to our plants!   We are able to use a local fish that I don't know a lot about yet to cultivate! More about that later. We are doing some innovative things with the tank - like floating it in the water.  We are also using an electricity free water pump and aerator!  More about that later too :) Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) If you would like to give financially with a card – go to the following page and find the heading called: ·         Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) ----------------- If you would like to write a check , write the check to: ·       Cross Connections of KC ·       PO Box 901945, Kansas City MO 64190 ·       This is the non profit that takes care of my accounting and gifts - Cross Connections is a NonProfit with the EIN 45-4548192 for your records. Agriculture in Makoko

Image
This may be the first plant production that the 300,000 fisher-people of Makoko have ever seen.  They barely see the color green (although it pops up in surprising places)  This is just outside the missionary office window - which we built (both the office and the aquaculture system).   Solomon built both this aquaculture gangplank and finished the Chief's Cistern all in one morning - in the pouring rain!  He is a champion! My feet were swelled up so I went to get them massaged yesterday.  But that made me feel like the infection was spread through my whole body- but it did bring down some of the swelling in my feet.  So I sent out a prayer request.  Thank you for praying for me!  I feel so much better!  Thank You!  If you would like to be added to my prayer request news letter - just email me and I will add you (jkyle777@gmail.com)  Aquaculture and Compassion for the Poor (ACP) If you would like to give financially with a card – go to the following page and find the heading call
